Alex King-Harris (affectionately known in the music world as Rara) has been on conscious dance floors most of his life — and behind the decks of them since the earliest days of the ecstatic dance movement. Now approaching 50, the grey hairs are bringing out a serenity in his facilitation and musicianship that only comes from a thousand-plus dances on floors all over the world: Kalani, Oakland, San Francisco, Fairfax, LA, Nevada City, London, Berlin, Rome.
 

What sets his sets apart is that he doesn't just DJ them — he feels them deeply and takes them on a seamless, expertly woven journey. A graduate with distinction in Jazz Studies from Vancouver Island University, Alex is a trained multi-instrumentalist who weaves live playing into the mix, reading the room in real time and letting the floor shape where the music goes. It's the difference between a curated playlist and a living, breathing journey.
 

He's spent 25+ years where electronic sound meets ancient practice — a founding contributor to projects like Desert Dwellers, Shaman's Dream and Liquid Bloom, playing transformational gatherings from Wanderlust to Lightning in a Bottle, and co-founding YogiTunes back when "music for yoga" was barely a category. Closer to home, he's co-founder of Dance Temple Gathering in BC. These days he pours it all into EvolveWell — breathwork, voice, movement, somatic integration — and into holding floors with the kind of presence that turns a dance into a practice.

He doesn't take himself too seriously. But put him in front of a room that's ready to move, and he'll take them somewhere.
